Little Caesars CEO David Scrivano noticed a steady trend in the past few years of people looking for meat-alternatives, but he said that it’s hit a “tipping point in the last year.”
According to Nielsen, sales in the plant-based product category grew 17% last year, compared with a 2% growth rate for other grocery products. “It’s here to stay,” Scrivano said.
It doesn’t matter that their main demographic isn’t made up of vegetarians, he said on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street. ” “It’s for meat eaters, but it can also be for people who use a plant-based diet.”
